What are the benefits of GRP wall mounted enclosures over metal ones?

GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) is completely non-corrosive, meaning it will never rust, making it ideal for coastal or damp environments. It is also an electrical insulator, lightweight for easier installation, and UV-stabilised to prevent degradation from sunlight.

What IP rating do these wall mounted enclosures provide?

Most of our GRP wall mounted range is rated to IP66. This provides complete protection against dust and protection against powerful water jets, making them suitable for heavy-duty industrial wash-down areas and exposed outdoor locations.

Are mounting plates included with the cabinets?

Yes, most of our wall mounted enclosures are supplied with either a galvanised steel mounting plate or a GRP backplate as standard. This allows you to easily mount your components and wiring before securing the plate inside the enclosure.

Can I easily drill or modify a GRP enclosure?

Yes, GRP is very easy to work with using standard metal drill bits or hole saws for cable glands. Unlike steel, it doesn't spark when cut and the edges don't need to be treated or painted after drilling because the material cannot rust.

How are these enclosures secured to the wall?

They can be mounted directly through the rear of the cabinet or by using external mounting brackets (feet). Using external brackets is often preferred as it maintains the IP rating by avoiding the need to drill through the main enclosure body.

Are the doors reversible?

Many of our GRP wall mounted models feature universal designs that allow the door to be hinged on either the left or right side, providing flexibility depending on your specific installation site.

What type of locking systems come as standard?

Standard units typically feature double-bit locks or triangular inserts. However, we also offer versions with handles that can be padlocked for increased security in public or high-access areas.
