The Superior Choice for Outdoor Electrical Protection: GRP

GRP (sometimes called Glass Reinforced Plastic or Fibreglass) cabinets are the definitive solution for long-term outdoor protection. Unlike metal, GRP will not rust, eliminating corrosion risk, and its inherent structural strength provides excellent resistance to impact and harsh weather conditions. Once installed, these enclosures offer decades of trouble-free use with virtually no maintenance required.

This comprehensive category includes all of our specialist GRP lines, such as the NX, GT, ENC, and DPM ranges, ensuring a certified and UK-manufactured solution for every application.

What are the primary benefits of using GRP for outdoor cabinets?

GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) is the ideal modern alternative to metal for outdoor use because it is completely non-corrosive and rust-proof. It is lightweight yet structurally strong, UV-stable to prevent degradation from sunlight, and provides excellent electrical insulation, making it safer for housing electrical components.

What IP ratings are available for these GRP cabinets?

Our GRP range offers high ingress protection to suit various environments, typically ranging from IP54 (weatherproof protection against dust and water spray) up to IP65 (completely dust-tight and protected against pressurized water jets).

Are these enclosures suitable for coastal or chemically aggressive areas?

Yes. Because GRP cannot rust or corrode, it is specifically recommended for harsh environments such as coastal locations with salty air, damp industrial sites, or areas where chemical exposure would quickly degrade traditional steel cabinets.

What locking options can I choose from?

To suit different security needs, our cabinets come with various locking mechanisms, including secure Cylinder Locks, padlock-ready Hasp & Staple closures, and specialized Triangle or Cam locks.

Do GRP cabinets require ongoing maintenance?

No. One of the greatest advantages of GRP is that it is virtually maintenance-free. Once installed, it does not require painting, treatment, or significant upkeep, offering a long service life of 20+ years with just occasional hardware inspections.

What sizes and configurations do you offer?

We stock a vast range of sizes, from compact wall-mounted utility boxes to substantial floor-standing cabinets and large walk-in kiosks up to 3.5m wide. You can choose between single or double door configurations depending on the access required for your equipment.

Can I get these cabinets delivered quickly?

Yes. We maintain extensive stock in the UK and offer Next Day Delivery on many of our most popular GRP enclosure lines to ensure your project stays on schedule.
